The Hunger Site
I’ve been doing a Paid-to-Read Emails for almost 3 years now just for fun since I don’t have anything to do with my email address before haha… and I already generated $30 from it, but this one is better.
Last week I’ve been to a click-to-donate website called thehungersite.com. The Hunger Site is owned and operated by Tim Kunin and Greg Hesterberg, co-owners of CharityUSA.com (parent company of GreaterGood Network). Although registered as a for-profit corporation, the revenue generated by the website and the purchases on their merchandise were donated to charitable partners; GreaterGood.org, Mercy Corps, Feeding America (formerly America’s Second Harvest), Save Darfur Coalition, and The ONE Campaign. Aside from supporting the cause to alleviate hunger, there are 5 more being promoted on the tab selection at the top of the page.
How does this website generate income? The website generates income in two ways. First, a “Click-to-give-it’s FREE” button is displayed in the middle of their website homepage. Upon clicking on the button, a decent advertisement block by the sponsors are shown. Second, the website has an online merchandise store which sells from jewelries, artisan product, clothing and accessories to a cash donation is available. Each item you buy in their online store, the more you could help since each item were labeled with the equivalent donation the website is going give to the cause.
I’ve been very much moved by the cause of the thehungersite.com, so I subscribed to their “remember to click” email notification feature. Since then I religiously visit their website to click and watch for their advertisements. But sometimes the email notifications were forwarded to the spam, so you better add them to your contact so you won’t be able to miss one day of nobility.
Why I support the cause to eradicate hunger? As a student, I’ve been very much supported especially on my food allowance. I was like spending more to food than any other thing because it is a basic human need. And that’s the first thing we should look into helping, and the rest will follow.
