I came up with this campaign inspired by The Hunger Site cause. But unlike the buttons on The Hunger Site homepage which an individual must click to contribute to the cause, as a blogger I would like to make use of my blogsite as an instrument for other bloggers, visitors and myself to DO something for this cause. I do not intend to replace The Hunger Site but giving my readers, and those who are already supporting The Hunger Site, the opportunity to make the reach of the help to more people everyday.

How can I help?

Starting June 1, 2009- Every comment on any topic  posted on http://myphemaster.dejarme.net is equivalent to a cup of rice which will be donated to charities who provides feeding program for the needy.

I really took the most of this break especially the past week last Holy Week, you haven’t heard about me.

I usually spend my Holy week in the province. This year, I wasn’t really sure. I’ve given myself a choice since I won’t stay alone in Manila during the period. My older brother already had a job here which demands him to stay. Although I already decided, if ever I’ll be leaving for the province, I’d go for April 8. The question is; to stay or not to stay if so, on April 8 or April 3.

A sudden change of plan was necessary to dodge a bullet. That is why April 3 earlier than I planned, I went home to Pangasinan. I had a lot of plans to maximize my stay in Pangasinan to compensate for my broadband-connected life in Manila. You’ve read that right, although internet connection was already easy in Pangasinan (recently in my town of Bani), our home was disconnected from the web. We used to have a contract with Digitel Broadband but for some reason, it was canceled.

Going back to my plans, first, I will have to attend to my driver’s license application. Next is to organize my files (soft and hard copies). I also wanted to use these spare time to read. Lastly, to relax, enjoy and reflect.

In the past two revalida for my third year (summer and 1st semester) in the University, I’ve never been failed for the procedure assigned to me and a coincident that I had the same clinical instructor for my previous revalida.

While for my Comeprehensive exam for Nursing Care Management since last semester, I wasn’t given the result which made me uneasy. But this time, there will be a rationalization of the answers postponed for next semester (supposed to be March 18,2009).

Although I slept almost the entire day of the Valentine, I woke up around 4pm because I have to get ready for my date with my girl at 7pm, also I made some house chores, and I had myself to a barbershop for a trim because I was noticed by my clinical instructor to have been violating the Institute’s policy of a clean-cut hairstyle.

By the way, it was little bit flattering to learn that my Friday the Thirteenth 2009 entry had delivered traffic from google search results. I believe this is a good start for the year 2009

Sure I don’t have paraskevidekatriaphobia, a combination of the fear of the number 13 and the fear of Fridays. It’s just that within the family, there has been an incident happened during that friday the thirteenth which I apologize that I’ve forgotten the exact date, which my parent relates to as an proof of the superstition.

Why and How does this superstition started?
Let me just pull some articles on the web which I’ll further comment on. Uhm, actually the first reason in green font color is what I mostly hear as the reason of this fear.

Christians have traditionally been wary of Fridays because Jesus was crucified on a Friday. In addition to that, some theologians hold that Adam and Eve ate from the forbidden fruit on a Friday, and that the Great Flood began on a Friday. In the past, many Christians would never begin any new project or trip on a Friday, for fear that the endeavor would be doomed from the start.
Sailors were particularly superstitious in this regard, often refusing to ship out to sea on a Friday. According to legend, in the 18th century, the British Navy commissioned a ship called the H.M.S. Friday in order to quell the superstition. The navy selected the crew on a Friday, launched the ship on a Friday and even selected a man named James Friday as the ship’s captain. Then, one Friday morning, the ship set off on its maiden voyage — and disappeared forever.

Some historians trace the Christian distrust of Fridays to the church’s overall opposition to pagan religions. Friday is named after Frigg, the Norse goddess of love and sex. This strong female figure, these historians claim, posed a threat to male-dominated Christianity. To fight her influence, the Christian church characterized her as a witch, vilifying the day named after her. This characterization may also have played a part in the fear of the number 13. It was said that Frigg would often join a coven of witches, normally a group of 12, bringing the total to 13. A similar Christian tradition holds that 13 is unholy because it signifies the gathering of 12 witches and the devil.

Some trace the infamy of the number 13 back to ancient Norse culture. In Norse mythology, the beloved hero Balder was killed at a banquet by the malevolent god Loki, who crashed the party of twelve, bringing the group to 13. This story, as well as the story of the Last Supper, led to one of the most entrenched connotations of the number 13: You should never sit down to a meal in a group of 13.

Another significant part of the Friday-the-13th legend is a particularly bad Friday the 13th that occurred in the middle ages. On a Friday the 13th in 1306, King Philip of France burned the revered Knights Templar at the stake, marking the occasion as a day of evil.

Some people come to fear Friday the 13th because of misfortune they’ve experienced on that day in the past. If you get in a car wreck on one Friday the 13th, or lose your wallet, that day is bound to stay with you. But if you think about it, bad things (from spilling your coffee to, well, much more serious problems) happen all the time, so if you’re looking for bad luck on Friday the 13th, you’ll probably find it.-howstuffworks.com

While on the other hand, I’m not sure if I could relate this to weird things during Friday the thirteenth, but we are contacted by our group leader informing us that we will have our hospital duty tonight instead of tomorrow. Well for me I think it’s luck happening because tomorrow I’ll be free for Valentine’s, I can bring my girl on a date.

Was it just a coincidence, or does this incidents do make sense? Whatever maybe the reason, we can’t stop this day to happen but we can make it through whatever bad luck you may think will happen to this day with trust and prayer to our creator.

For the first time, I was able to walk along the colorful street of the Chinatown in the Philippines. And tomorrow would be the Chinese New Year, that is why when we had a walk last January 22 at Binondo, the place is being prepared for the grand celebration of our Filipino-Chinese Brothers.

Fortunately, our class mayor also informed us that he already had reserved tickets for the entire class, that is why I am sure to watch that movie without skipping class. Our class mayor already coordinated with our faculties to give us the day.

On the other hand, I just came from my last hospital duty in Morong, Rizal. It’s about 2-hour ride away from my place here in Manila.
